(Bowker Author Biography) — biography from Wuthering Heights … ( more) Above all, it is a novel of power and fierce intensity that has gripped readers for more than 100 years. It may seem to be a study of right and wrong, but is actually a study of good and evil. It is a psychological novel, but is so filled with hints of the supernatural and mystical that the reader is unsure of how much control the characters have over their own actions. It is certainly a story of love, but just as certainly it is not a "love story".

Bronte's novel defies easy classification. Her passion reached far force, however, in her novel, Wuthering Heights. According to English poet and critic Matthew Arnold, "for passion, vehemence, and grief she had no equal since Byron." This passion is evident in the poetry she contributed to the collection (Poems by Currer, Ellis and Acton Bell) published by the Bronte sisters in 1846 under male pseudonyms in response to the prejudices of the time. Emily's work is also marked by a passionate intensity that is sometimes overpowering. Her one novel, Wuthering Heights (1847), draws much of its power from its setting in that desolate landscape. Emily, however, seems to have been much more affected by the eerie desolation of the moors than was Charlotte. I only paid 77 English pence for it, and quite frankly it was 77 English pence too much.Emily Bronte, the sister of Charlotte, shared the same isolated childhood on the Yorkshire moors. There was no need for this ever to have been written and certainly no need for it to be published. 254, I felt the need to cleanse myself and downloaded the real Wuthering Heights to my Kindle, to get rid of this claptrap from my mind. I feel my reading experience of that classic novel has been sullied by reading this tripe. This has actually managed to detract my enjoyment from a classic read. Pride and Prejudice (another great book) was enhanced by the addition of zombies. I don't know about the zombie - I never made it that far.

The thing with it is, Wuthering Heights is a GREAT book, a fantastic book, and there is probably a way to make it into a GREAT and funny book by adding in your werewolves and your zombies but this just reads like Wuthering Heights, with the odd wolf-related observation chucked in there. I've read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and loved it - it was the perfect monster genre mashup - but this, this is complete and utter rubbish.
